We are Calusa residents and volunteers who formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to protect 168 acres of greenspace and wildlife habitat designated Parks and Recreation on Miami-Dade County’s CDMP.
In 1968, Miami-Dade County approved a covenant protecting this land for 99 years. The covenant was released in 2020. In 2021, the Board of County Commissioners approved a 550-home residential development.

All Miami-Dade County residents should be concerned about residential development on Parks and Recreation land, the release of long-standing land-use protections, limited resident input, environmental impacts, and the lack of community benefits.
You do not need to live in Calusa to send an opposition letter. Each adult (18+) may sign. Please include your full name and address so your letter counts as a formal County objection.
